COVID-19 Update

In light of the uncertainty we all face with the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Grasshopper Environmental is taking steps to ensure we are prepared and to reassure customers of our commitment to providing our customers with uninterrupted waste management services.

New Restrictions affecting Non-Urgent Construction and Non-Essential Retail

Saturday 17th July 2021

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced tough new restrictions In response to the spike of coronavirus cases experienced across NSW. These new restrictions aim to limit the spread and growing number of cases of the COVID-19 Delta strain.

These restrictions include sweeping new changes to stay-at-home orders affecting Greater Sydney and its surrounds and closures for non-urgent construction and non-critical retail and operations.

Grasshopper Environmental understands this news can be distressing for many of our customers in the construction and retail space required to close operations until the advised 30th July.

Grasshopper Environmental would like to assure all customers that we are here to work with you on any changes to services required as a result of the developing COVID-19 situation. This includes changes to servicing frequency, temporary pauses on waste servicing and requests to temporarily remove bins during site closure.

Please contact us on 1300 147 277 or email customercare@grasshopper.net.au to discuss any changes required to your site waste management needs.

We’re COVID Safe

Updated 8th September

Grasshopper Environmental is officially registered as a COVID Safe business.

We have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and are committed to keeping staff, customers and visitors safe.

Our safety measures include physical distancing, hygiene & cleaning, record keeping, and ensuring the wellbeing of staff & customers. We have also implemented contactless servicing and various other methods to keep our communities safe.

Moving to a Contactless Service

Updated 27th March.

As you can appreciate, the COVID-19 situation is one that is developing rapidly where we must quickly adapt to protect the health and safety of staff, customers and the wider community.

In response to the latest restrictions from federal, state and local authorities related to COVID-19 and the importance of social distancing, Grasshopper Environmental will be moving to a contactless service from today.

What this means is that signatures for service dockets will be unavailable until further notice. For proof of service, a text message will be sent to you confirming your booking, all you need to do is reply back with ‘COMPLETE’ to confirm the service has been completed. We understand this may cause some inconvenience however we appreciate your understanding and compliance in regard to this change.

If you would like to discuss an alternative arrangement we would be more than happy to work with you. Please call us on 1300 147 277 to discuss.

Our essential waste services are critical to the sanitary, safe and healthy functioning of our communities and we want to reassure you that Grasshopper Environmental will continue operating all waste services including collection, processing, recycling, resource recovery, and waste to energy.

Our commitment to business continuity and safety

As at 20 March 2020

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our customers and team members and to remain compliant with the requirements and recommendations from federal, state and local authorities related to COVID-19. We continue to monitor the developing situation closely and activate contingency plans to ensure the continuity of services while still ensuring the safety of our staff and customers, and the health and wellbeing of the broader community.

At this time, we would like to reassure our customers of the following:

Our Team

We have implemented strict hygiene practices as well as work at home arrangements for staff to prevent transmission and to practice effective social distancing. All office staff, drivers and sales teams have been equipped with the resources to practice good hygiene and to remain vigilant in protecting each other and the community from transmission.

Our Service to our Customers

Our response plan and business contingency measures have been implemented so we can continue to provide essential waste management services to our customers.

Our Building & Demolition and Commercial & Industrial waste services remain uninterrupted with skip waste and front lift waste services continuing as per normal. Recycling and Resource Recovery, waste to energy and general waste processing also remain uninterrupted.

Meetings & Events

We continue to have our Arndell Park office open for business. However, we have asked our staff to avoid face to face meetings unless absolutely necessary. We have a full range of zoom and other video and audio-conferencing facilities available to continue to keep communication lines open and be of service to you.

In the interest of public health, events and presentations have been postponed until further notice, this includes the 2020 Sydney Build Expo where Grasshopper Environmental was set to exhibit.

What we request of you

We are equipped to support the continued operation of your organisation during this time. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, customers and community and so we can navigate through this time of uncertainty as smoothly as possible, we request for you to:

  • Consider our video and phone conferencing options instead of face to face meetings
  • Please refrain from handshakes and maintain social distance by keeping a 2-metre distance
  • If you are ill or have symptoms of any illness (including flu-like symptoms or symptoms of the coronavirus) we ask you to refrain from attending our premises
  • Our electronic devices are sanitised regularly, however, where signatures are required for services rendered and your policies prevent this please contact us on 1300 147 277 to discuss an alternative arrangement.

If you have any policies implemented in response to COVID-19 that will impact on the way we deliver services to you, please contact us to discuss alternate arrangements immediately.

We are committed to ensuring everyone’s health and safety during this time. We look forward to continuing to provide our customers with a great service in a safe and sustainable manner.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm Regards
Gavin Stewart
